Massive Recovery Effort by Energex & Ergon Energy
Over 500,000 properties in south-east Queensland have been reconnected after ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, marking the largest power restoration in state history. Crews worked 300,000+ hours, repairing 1,600 wires and inspecting 9,000km of powerlines to restore supply.
Energy Queensland CEO Peter Scott praised the dedication of workers, many leaving their own powerless homes to help. Despite hardships, Queenslanders showed gratitude, offering food, drinks, and thank-you notes to the crews.

Ongoing Challenges & Preparedness
Some areas, including Springbrook and Currumbin Valleys, still face outages, with crews working to resolve them. Scott urged households to prepare for future storms, emphasizing backup power solutions.
