South Australia’s 2025–26 State Budget puts the spotlight on cleaner energy, smarter transport, and global climate leadership. With a strong focus on reducing costs and emissions, the government is taking bold steps to make energy smarter and more accessible across the state.

South Australia Powers Ahead with Budget Boost for Greener Future

Helping Small Businesses Cut Energy Bills

In a major move to ease the cost of living and business overheads, the state has unveiled $20 million in Powering Business Grants. These grants will help small and medium-sized businesses upgrade to energy-efficient equipment or systems that cut power use and save money in the long run.

Eligible businesses can apply for grants between $2,500 and $75,000, making it easier to invest in long-term savings. This initiative follows the success of a similar program that helped nearly 1,500 businesses in the past year.

Electric Buses Hit the Road in Mount Barker

As part of the state’s transport transition, $12.5 million is being invested over five years to convert Mount Barker’s on-demand transport trial into a fully electric Adelaide Metro service.

This includes the purchase of six new electric buses and infrastructure upgrades to support EV charging at the Mount Barker depot, accelerating the shift to low-emission public transport options.

Adelaide Prepares to Host Global Climate Conference

With Australia aiming to host COP31, South Australia is investing $8.3 million into early-stage planning to support Adelaide’s role as the event’s host city.

The funds will go toward critical preparations like security, transport logistics, and infrastructure development, ensuring Adelaide is ready to welcome tens of thousands of international visitors and lead by example on climate action.
