Stage 1 of TagEnergy’s 1333MW Golden Plains Wind Farm has begun delivering its first energy to Victoria’s power grid, with Stage 2 securing new investments. Once complete, this $4 billion project will provide nine percent of the state’s electricity, powering around 765,000 homes.

The 756MW Stage 1 milestone follows 20 months of construction, with over 400 workers involved. Vestas is installing 215 turbines, each standing 149m tall, at the project site.

Powering Victoria’s Renewable Future

TagEnergy CEO, Franck Woitiez, celebrated the achievement, stating that this marks a pivotal moment in Victoria’s transition to clean energy, contributing to energy security, lower power bills, and reduced carbon emissions.

Construction of the 577MW Stage 2 began in June 2024, with expected completion by mid-2027. EnergyAustralia has signed a 10-year agreement to purchase 40% of Stage 2’s capacity, while Ingka Investments (IKEA's parent company) has increased its stake in the project, securing renewable energy for its operations.

Supporting Sustainability and Global Goals

Ingka Investments’ second investment highlights its commitment to renewable energy and net-zero goals. Head of Renewable Energy, Frederik de Jong, emphasized that this partnership aligns with Australia’s renewable energy targets and global sustainability efforts.
