Australia is doubling down on its Solar Sunshot program, adding another $150 million in funding to strengthen local solar manufacturing and supply chains. This marks the second round of the government’s $1 billion scheme to build renewable energy technology on Australian soil.

Key Details of Round 2
Funding Opens Sept 23 – Submissions for Round 2 will be managed by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).
Targeted Segments – Support for module frames, solar glass, junction boxes, and deployment technologies.
Future Made in Australia Plan – A step toward greater energy security, local jobs, and cleaner power.
What’s Been Achieved So Far
5B Solar – Awarded $46M in Round 1 to scale production of Maverick solar units.
Tindo Solar – Received $34.5M to expand premium N-type solar modules at its Adelaide facility.
Feasibility Studies – $11M across three projects for polysilicon and wafering facilities in QLD and NSW.
