The sun continues to be a beacon of hope for Australia's energy future, as 2023 witnessed a surge in solar installations across the nation. Leading solar research organization, Solar Nerds, has released its annual report, revealing fascinating insights into the industry's landscape and crowning the champions who are leading the charge towards a sustainable tomorrow.

Nationwide Boom:

Australians embraced solar power with open arms in 2023, installing a staggering 333,076 solar systems, generating an impressive 3 million kW of renewable energy. This translates to powering approximately 1.2 million Australian homes, a significant leap towards a cleaner and greener future.

Sub 100 kW: Sunboost Reigns Supreme

The sub-100 kW category, encompassing residential installations, saw Sunboost emerge as the undisputed champion. They installed over 10,504 systems, capturing a notable 3.1% market share. This dominance extends to the even smaller 0-15 kW segment, where Sunboost further solidified its lead with over 10,000 installations.

Beyond the Residential Realm:

While Sunboost dominated the residential space, other players emerged victorious in larger system categories:

  • 15-40 kW: Origin claimed the top spot, showcasing their expertise in mid-sized commercial installations.

  • 40-100 kW: AGL secured the win, demonstrating its strength in the larger commercial and industrial segment.

STC Champions: Formbay Trading Leads the Pack

Beyond installations, Formbay Trading emerged as the frontrunner in the Small-scale Technology Certificates (STC) trading sector. They facilitated the trading of over 704,577 kW, playing a crucial role in the financial ecosystem of the solar industry.
