WaveX and Trident Energy Join Forces
WaveX has partnered with UK-based Trident Energy to advance wave energy technology in Western Australia. The collaboration will integrate Trident Energy’s PowerPod linear generators into WaveX’s innovative D-Spar wave-powered generator, enabling efficient conversion of ocean wave energy into clean electricity.

AI-Enhanced Energy Capture
The partnership focuses on embedding AI-driven machine learning in the PowerPod control system to monitor real-time wave data and optimise energy generation. This cutting-edge approach will maximise the potential of wave energy.
Local Manufacturing Opportunities
The agreement includes plans to manufacture the Power Take-Off (PTO) technology locally in Perth, backed by an existing MoU between WaveX and a Perth-based fabricator.
Albany Wave Energy Project
WaveX is set to deploy its D-Spar technology in Albany, WA, in 2025 as part of a large-scale wave energy project. The project, supported by The University of Western Australia’s research, aims to demonstrate the viability of large-scale wave energy systems and their contribution to global energy needs.
Driving Energy Transition
Wave energy, capable of filling gaps in solar and wind power production, is expected to play a crucial role in the energy transition. It offers a reliable, sustainable solution without the reliance on costly grid-scale batteries.
Global Collaboration for Marine Renewable Energy
This partnership marks a significant step for marine renewable energy, with potential benefits for coastal communities worldwide.
WaveX CEO, Simon Renwick: “By combining our D-Spar system with Trident Energy’s linear generator technology, we’re driving innovation in wave energy to create a scalable, global solution.”
Trident Energy CEO, Steve Packard: “This collaboration accelerates the commercialisation of ocean energy, showcasing its potential on a global scale.”
