SA Power Networks has successfully reconnected Hawker and Leigh Creek to the state’s electricity grid, following a devastating October 2024 storm that caused widespread outages and downed 32 transmission towers.

Storm Impact: The event caused more damage than SA’s 2016 blackout, leaving 1,600 customers without power.

Temporary Power Solutions: SA Power Networks set up backup generation to keep essential services running.

Restoration Efforts: Teams from across the state relocated to Hawker and Leigh Creek to assist.

Final Reconnection: A planned outage on February 15, 2025 marked the full restoration of power.
