But all this sunshine sometimes means there's more solar energy than the grid can handle during the day. The BBP steps in here, acting like a giant sponge, absorbing that excess solar power and storing it for later use. With a whopping 850 MW capacity and a four-hour storage duration, the BBP could ensure a stable and reliable energy supply for Queensland.

The BBP is a lithium-ion battery storage system, a common technology used in large-scale energy storage projects.
