Extended Support for Households and Businesses
Australian households and around one million small businesses will continue to receive energy bill rebates until the end of 2025. From July 1, 2025, an additional $150 will be applied to quarterly electricity bills, further easing cost of living pressures.

Reducing Inflation and Energy Costs
According to the Federal Department of the Treasury, this extension is expected to reduce headline inflation by 0.5% and cut household bills by 7.5% on average. The rebates have already contributed to a 25.2% drop in electricity prices in 2024, significantly more than the estimated 1.6% drop without them.
Further Energy Market Reforms
Along with extending the rebates, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) will continue its Inquiry into the National Electricity Market for another year, aiming to ensure better value for consumers. The government’s energy reforms also focus on helping Australians switch to more cost-effective energy plans.
Budget and Impact
The extended energy relief will cost $1.8 billion over the forward estimates, reaffirming the government's commitment to supporting households amid rising living costs.
