Building Local Prosperity and Green Jobs

NT Minister for Renewables, Gerard Maley, emphasized the project’s economic benefits, forecasting around 500 jobs during the construction and operational phases. “This project is a substantial boost to the Territory economy, creating jobs and driving local development,” Maley stated. The hub is expected to inject over $400 million into the local supply chain through construction-related investments.

Harnessing Solar and Storage for Clean Power

The Renewable Energy Hub will feature six large-scale solar farms, capable of generating 180–210MW of renewable energy, alongside a state-of-the-art battery energy storage system. Located on a 940-hectare site of Crown Land with access to existing infrastructure, the hub’s power will feed directly into the Darwin-Katherine grid, delivering clean and renewable energy to local homes and businesses.

Smart Site Selection to Ensure Success

After a comprehensive site selection process, a 500-hectare development area has been identified on Crown Land near Finn Road. This location is zoned for light industry, aligning with the NT Government’s Land Use Plan, and is conveniently located near Darwin’s main infrastructure, which will facilitate efficient energy distribution.

Public Participation: Have Your Say!

The consultation process allows residents, businesses, and key stakeholders to engage, gain insights, and provide feedback on the project. The government has committed to tailoring the final design and investment decisions based on the community’s input. Pendin
