$116 Million Investment for Energy Upgrades
A joint $116 million investment by the Federal and Queensland governments will bring significant energy performance upgrades to Queensland’s social housing. These upgrades aim to reduce energy bills and ease the cost of living for tenants by improving the energy efficiency of their homes.
Energy-Saving Enhancements for 32,000 Homes
The initiative will include thermal shell improvements, air cooling solutions, ceiling fans, solar PV, energy-efficient hot water systems, and fixed appliance upgrades. These measures are designed to help tenants keep their homes cooler in summer and warmer in winter while saving on energy bills.
Supporting Clean Energy and Affordability
This funding will upgrade around 28,000 public housing dwellings and 4,000 community housing dwellings, contributing to Queensland’s clean energy transformation. The initiative will provide much-needed relief for residents facing rising living costs, making energy more affordable and sustainable.
