Solar Grants for Apartments Now Open – Up to $150,000 Available

A $25 million initiative to install shared rooftop solar systems for apartment buildings in New South Wales is now open for applications. The program, launched by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and federal and state energy ministers, aims to help apartment residents benefit from lower power bills and reduced emissions.

🔹 Potential savings: Up to $600 per year on power bills

🔹 Closing the gap: Only 3.5% of apartments currently have solar

🔹 Part of a bigger plan: Linked to a $206 million energy upgrade fund

Beyond rooftop installations, the initiative includes $30 million for Solar Banks (solar gardens), allowing renters and apartment dwellers to buy or lease solar plots and receive electricity bill credits.

🌞 More than 10,000 households are expected to benefit from these solar banks, making renewable energy more inclusive.

Victoria: Up to $2,800 per household or $140,000 per apartment building

ACT: Up to $100,000 grant + zero-interest loan

Northern Territory: 50% of costs covered, up to $7,500 per dwelling
